Road to Parenthood

Someone’s learning by watching you.”

If there‘s something in common with the principles of good schools developed by the philosophers and educators throughout history, it’s the emphasis on the role of the teacher as a model that students will imitate. It’s how important the teacher’s relationship is with the students. It’s how love plays a vital part in real learning.

Truth is, this role shouldn’t be just for teachers. It’s for parents as well.

That’s why a close partnership between teachers and parents is necessary for the child’s success.

This is also the reason why my husband and I are into self-improvement. Because I had a glimpse into being a parent when I became a teacher, we knew that having a child is like duplicating yourself. We believe that we have to be careful with what we say or do (which will be extremely challenging). Our habits, routines, and values will be passed on to our child whether we like it or not. That’s why we really gotta strive to be the best version of ourselves, if we want teach another person how to be a decent human being.

This is also the reason why we thought we were not ready to have a baby yet, until the situation arrived. It’s a beautiful gift yet a daunting task.

Oh well, just like what Bro. Migs said, “Minsan kailangan nating hayaang makialam ang Diyos sa mga plano natin.” His plans are always the best, anyway.
